High users include massage therapists, those on special diets requiring tablespoons of coconut oil per day, and large families

The biggest reason people choose bulk packaging is convenience.
A plastic pail won’t get knocked over on the bench easily. It won’t easily break if it does fall over, and you can apply some force to get the solid oil out by the tablespoon-full, without fear of the jar flying across the room!

Do you remember the “Cookie Muncher” from when you were a child? The Cookie Muncher couldn’t get enough of cookies. And so it is with coconut oil for us. We use a lot of oil, and we know there are others like you who would like oil in larger quantities delivered to you.

We know most shops don’t provide bulk coconut oil (it’s just not their market)

You see, we know it’s hard for shops to put large pails on the shelf, and we can think of a range of reasons for that. Here are two for starters.

1) Large pails take up more shop space.

2) The larger the product on the shelf, the less variety and quantity of product that can be seen on the same shelf.

3) It is more difficult to share or give away a 4 litre pail with a friend than a 200 ml bottle.

Those reasons help to explain why shops don’t sell coconut oil in large quantities. But there is a forth big reason shops don’t sell much bulk coconut oil.

White Gold 10 Litres Bulk Coconut Oil NZ | CoconutOilShop.co.nz
White Gold 10 Litre Value Pail

The biggest reason most shops don’t sell bulk coconut oil

It costs you less to buy the oil in bulk! You pay more per litre for small jars, and it provides suppliers and retailers with more profit to package oil in smaller quantities. This shop was set up so you can buy oil in bulk, and save money on packaging costs.

This shop was set up because we know it’s hard to find a range of bulk prices and large packaging for coconut oil.

When your needs for coconut oil are bigger than the jars, we provide a range of bulk options

You can go to the Beginner aisle and order Zenian Original Glass Jars in multiples (up to 6 litres), or you can shop in this aisle and get oil in a single plastic pail.

The bulk range suits those on coconut oil saturated fat diets and those seeking bulk supplies of White Gold and Ancient Wisdom. It is by far the cheapest way to have oil delivered to you. Our shop is famous for our supply of bulk oil delivered directly to you.

Use the drop down menu underneath the Ceres pail to see the 10 litre price, for example. There is a 5L plastic pail at $152.70, but when you go to the 10 L pail option, the price becomes $284.70. Each of the bulk oil will have similar quantity discount options available, so don’t forget to use the drop down menu under the “Add to Cart” button for each product to select the quantity you require.

Catering and baking with less coconut taste and smell!
A word for those looking at using coconut oil for catering or cooking on a large scale. If you don’t want the strong coconut taste or smell, Sea Breeze from Tonga was made for you! (Currently out of stock in some sizes).

Types of processing (a frequently asked question)

Which of the bulk oil products has had the least processing applied to it?
The short answer is Ancient Wisdom. This oil is extracted the traditional way, with fermentation, and has had no heat applied to it whatsoever: before, during or after extraction. That is actually a very rare quality in coconut oil, because normally some degree of heat (even low heat) has to be applied to the oil to remove residual moisture to prevent early spoilage.

Buyers want the highest health benefits from the least processing

Here is a typical question from a buyer. “I was wondering which one of the bulk coconut oil range has had least processing applied to it providing highest health benefits?

The key to understanding the issue here is not the processing, but rather the type of processing. Fermented oil we sell is processed with less heat than other fermented oils. Fermented coconut oil has a reputation for being processed at higher heat than non-fermented oil. For the oil we sell at the Coconut Oil Shop, this is not the case.

We don’t have room to discuss all the types of processing here on this page, but for clarity, I will list them by bulk oil type.

Oil by processing type

White Gold
Unfermented,
extracted from fresh mature coconuts. Meat is dried at less than 40 degrees, then  cold pressed to produce liquid for oil separation.

Ancient Wisdom
Fermented, extracted from mature coconuts. Revolutionary fermentation technique that requires no heating. Fermentation improves the absorption of good acids by the body.

So you can see from the oils above that absolutely no chemicals, steam or high heat are used during production.

  1. Hi, I’m interested in purchasing bulk virgin coconut oil, but I was wondering about the plastic containers – whether they would be leaching toxic substances into the oil or wether they are BPA etc free?
Also, I noted the Ceres oil is packaged in plastic bags inside the plastic bucket – would you please let me know?
    Thanks

    1. Hi Lila, thanks for getting in touch. Both Chantal and Zenian plastic buckets are food-grade non-leaching, BPA free. We assume it would be the case with the Ceres pail but will need to confirm.

Yes, the Ceres oil is packaged in double-layered plastic bags. Zenian 4 litre pails also come packaged in a plastic bag inside a pail. The only oil in a plastic pail which is not packaged in a plastic bag is the Chantal 4 Litre Value Pail.

You can also buy Zenian Original Glass Jars (500 ml) in a carton (6 litres – 12 glass jars in a box) for $205.70. 4 litres (8 glass jars) is $149.70.
You can view the product here:

      Hope it helps.

  3. Have been trying to find the Senian Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, but cannot locate this product

  4. Don’t worry my friend gave me the wrong information – I think it should have been Zenian

    1. Yes, it is Zenian. 🙂

  5. Hi could you please give me the guidlines for the storage and keeping of your coconut oils.
    Thank you very much.
    gary

    1. Hi there. Thanks for asking.
      1) Keep the lid on when not in use.

      2) Store in a cool place unless you are wanting it to melt for pouring.

      3) It’s fine in the fridge, but a dry place is better for it.

      4) Keep other food fragments away from it. If food fragments are left in the oil, from dirty utensils, you may get mold in the oil.

  6. Hi there, just wondering about which of your coconut oil brands are not extra virgin? Or if you have a non extra virgin? Because… I read the smoke point is only 177C for extra virgin coconut oil.. Therefore using as a frying oil would not be suitable?

    Thanks
    Kim

    1. Answer. None. We specialise in virgin oil, which is not RBD (refined, bleached or deodorised). It is true that we trade a higher smoke point for less intervention.

We use our virgin coconut oil for frying in a fry pan, and baking and bread making.

We do stir fries, fry fish, meat, and vegetables, all with virgin coconut oil. We haven’t tried using a deep fryer.

So none of our oils are distilled in steam like the Ceres high heat cooking oil. Sorry. We just do virgin coconut oil, and related products.

  7. Hi

Can you give me a price for the 10 litre pail of coconut oil please. It is for soap making.

    Thank you 🙂

    1. IndusKera is a great choice. $283.70 for 10 litres. Use the drop down box on this link.

Also Chantal is a good choice too. $303.70 for 10 litres. Use the drop down box on this link.

They are both Virgin, both certified organic, and both in one pail.
      I hope that helps.

  8. Hi
Do u cell coconut capsules or pills?

    1. No, we don’t carry coconut oil capsules or pills. For maximum health benefits, you need to work up to consuming 3-4 tablespoons a day, and that will be a lot of capsules. 🙂

  9. Hello Ive just started Hot Stone Massage, Which is the best for this and at a bulk size.

    Regards Felicity

    1. We feel the aroma of the oil is important in this case. So it depends on what you prefer. Probably unfermented is best because of the more coconut-like smell.

IndusKera has an almost savoury aroma, Chantal has a sweetish coconuty aroma and Ceres has very little aroma (texture could be slightly grainy). The differences are very subtle but you will notice it if you compared them side by side. Chantal says out of stock but we still have 10 and 20 litre pails if you are interested.

  10. Hi there, When will the Zenian be back in stock? thanks

    1. We just got some today but found out the pails have the labels missing. The content is the same so if you are happy to have them without labels you are welcome to order. Sorry about that.

  11. I’m wondering what the taste difference is for fermented and unfermented coconut oil?
I love the taste of coconut, and so would be disappointed if I bought some fermented product and didn’t like the taste………can you tell me what the taste difference is please and also which product unfermented and fermented has the strongest coconut taste and which has the least?
So I know which is the best for eating out of the jar, and cooking with it……….
    thanks so much
    Ginny

  12. Hi there, I was just wondering how long a 20L bucket will keep. What is the shelf life of coconut oil?

    Cheers.

    1. The best before date is 2 years from bottling, which is when you will get it because we’re about to bottle White Gold and Ancient Wisdom. Chantal was bottled within the last 3 months.

      I hope that helps.

      The Coconut Oil Shop Team.

  13. HI i would like to preorder a 20 litre ancient wisdom pail please. I would be grateful it you could send an email when it is in stock.

    best wishes

    wendy

    1. Sure. It will be mid-late December 2013.

  14. I was wanting to order 20 Ltr White Gold .
When will these be available ?

    1. A very limited number of pails are available now. We have emailed you about this.

  15. Hi,
We have been using VOC coconut oil for more than a year now and on the moment we have almost finished a 20 L pail and we are looking to buy another one.
We don’t use coconut oil for cooking very much but eat it by the spoon 3 times per day for therapeutic use.
In the past year or so we have tasted several different (all VOC organic) oils and we didn’t like the flavour of most of them. There is an awful lot of horrible tasting coconut around.
I noticed on your website that you sell 20L pails of White Gold RAW coconut oil, but the smaller jars don’t have that description.
My point is that I would like to try a very small sample of your White Gold RAW (just to see if we like the taste) before we buy a 20L pail. Is that possible?

Do you sell any (apart from the Fijian oil you mentioned in your e-mail) 20 liter pails of raw coconut oil either from the Phillipines or somewhere else?.

If so, what brands and how much do they cost.

    Regards,

    John

    1. Hi John,

Thanks for getting in touch. Both White Gold Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and Ancient Wisdom Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil are raw, and available in a 20 L pail. There’s a taste sampler pack available here (you get a small jar of each):

      https://www.coconutoilshop.co.nz/order-coconut-oil/380-ml-twin-pack-taste-sampler/

The prices (includes GST and Courier within NZ):
      White Gold 20 L: $370
      Ancient Wisdom 20 L: $385
