Hi There,

I am a hug fan when it comes to organic and natural products of all sorts. I absolutely love cooking with coconut oil and using it in my raw foods.

I also have something called Kara coconut cream, which is all natural and has a very low calorie count. Its quite good to use in coffee etc. I’m just wondering what your thoughts are on Cononut cream?

Also, I tend to have quite dry skin at times (due to being on a skin pill) and am wondering if coconut oil would clog the pores on my face if i were to use it?

Thanks very much,

Laura

Yes coconut cream is great. It’s got at least 17% cream and it is totally natural. We have one coconut cream product for sale, but it is 3 litres only. So it is more like a catering can.

Coconut Oil won’t clog your pores, it will clear them. It is a powerful cleaner, and can lead to dead skin coming off your face too initially, so look out for that when you start.

Hi Frances,

We make no promises,
but what we’ve heard from our customers is that our Milk Relief Soap™, along with Green Gear Balm™ may support the skin to clear itself up. In addition to this, I’d be putting some Ancient Wisdom Coconut Oil on the face at the end of the shower, before turning off the water. Put some on the hair and face, and then wash the hair with Milk Relief Soap™, instead of shampoo. Rinse off, and it’s done.

In our opinion, if Coconut Cream or Coconut Milk works, its because it has Virgin Coconut Oil in it. : )

Give that a whirl and get back to us and tell us if our customers’ and our own experience is ringing true for your daughter.

Kind regards,

The Coconut Oil Shop Team

I am usually not one to write anything about products or service. I have been buying my VCO from The coconut oil shop for up to two years plus. I like to say that the service has been excellent, so easy to order and a couple of days later the product is here. I swear by the products you have available and the VCO and it is an excellent price and the taste is great. My favorite being the CHANTAL. I have also used the White Gold Organic Extra Virgin Coconut oil also I find that is also nice. I use Virgin Coconut Oil for everything on my skin, my face (I don’t need to buy expensive facial creams) body using it after a bath or when I have dry skin. Love using it for cooking. I do not use any other oils or fats except Olive oil for my salads. I am of Pacific Island mix and love coconuts anyway – we usually have NIU that is the juice of the young coconut I see you have it for sale how awesome and coconuts well it is “The Tree of LIFE” Thank you soooo much…I know we are lucky to have access to Large Quantities of Virgin Coconut oil…Through “THE COCONUT OIL SHOP” I tell my friends and family about VCO how it can help them…!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m an enthusiastic user of coconut oil – both outside & inside my body: on my skin, it’s the only “cosmetic” I use; in my body, I use it in my meals & alwayspour the oil over my food. If only the allopathic medical profession would “get with it” & recommend saturated fats (so necessary for cellular health) & cease talking nonsense about nutritionally harmful cooking oils in clear, plastic bottles.

Reply

Coconut Oil Shop April 8, 2013 at 10:12 pm

We understand your sentiment. Thanks for chiming in. I was reading last night about the difference in allopathic medicine’s view of a particular oil. The statement compared the view in 1899 with the view in the 1990s. What was considered safe in 1899, was considered dangerous in the 1990s. If it were talking about Opium, I’d understand.

The author of the book went on to explain that the man made or man altered version of that particular oil was absolutely dangerous, as described. But the 1899 statement was probably describing a naturally occuring oil.

As man tries to alter, modify, and bring into alignment with strict creteria those things that God created with variety, perhaps sometimes, in some cases, those things become as dangerous as they are described. I’m searching for an example relvent to the Coconut Oil Shop, and RBD* Coconut Oil, extracted with Hexane comes to mind.

We’ve written an article on the topic, which some of the readers may like to view. The fact is that allopathic medical research thinks in terms of BP (every batch of a treatment substance must be identical). In an effort to save cost, and drive uniformity, they use processes that require refining.

But Virgin Coconut Oil is a whole food that needs no refining to deliver its life supporting benefits of phytonutrients and medium chain fatty acids. Those benefits don’t seem to be harmed by an built in lack of uniformity either. : )

* “RBD” means Refined, Bleached and Deodorised.

Oops, sorry we didn’t see your comment in time! We hope the Weston A. Price Dunedin get together went well on Sunday. Ancient Wisdom Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil 1 litre jars are sold out but we have a limited number of refill pouches available at the bottom of this page here:

Yes, we should have more glass jars available before Christmas but we are totally at the mercy of the bottler.

I will be purchasing your products very soon once I get my coconut oil shopping list sorted. The information on your website and newsletter are so vast & helpful and will find time reading your articles.

I have a question here for you…may I know how to store coconut oil (room temp, freezer?) how long will they last (months?).

thank you.

In places like Canterbury the oil goes from liquid to solid as the temperature rises and falls above and below 24°C. If you want to keep it the same temperature, you’d need to insulate it in woolen wrap or polystyrene. But we don’t. It will last 2 years if kept clean.

I hope that helps.
