Instructions for Coconut Oil
Your coconut oil will stay fine as long as clean utensils are used when the oil is scooped out and it is kept out of the sun with the lid on. There is no need to refrigerate the oil. If you keep Coconut Oil clean, it lasts at least 2 years from the manufacturer date.
Keep the lid on whenever you can.
If it is constantly cold it is always harder. When it gets warmer it goes liquid.
Some people like to keep it unmelted for taste’s sake.
How to open a stubbornly sealed pail
Firstly, lids can stick on when they are cold. This idea applies with both the metal lids on glass jars, and the plastic lids as well.
With a jar lid that won’t open easily, you can turn it upside down in just enough water to heat the lid. Then after it is heated sufficiently you should be able to use a tea towel to open the lid sufficiently.
With a plastic pail lid you can use a hair dryer to heat the lid edge, and then something like a wide flat screw driver should be easier to insert upwards inside the inner lip of the lid.
Step 2 – Cut the lip away.
If your rip seal plastic pulls off too short, cut the exposed plastic lip of the lid with scissors.

Now rip that plastic cord right around the pail and lift the lid with your hands or a screw driver as above or preferably a kitchen bread and butter knife, if absolutely necessary.
