An example of a “Newbie’s” question
This is the kind of email we get a lot. (And this is the kind of answer we give).
I brought a jar of your ‘Organic Coconut Oil’ having heard how good it was on talk back the other night, now I want to know how to use it.
We answered this like. “Thanks for getting in touch. You can use coconut oil for cooking, baking and eating straight. Around 3-4 tablespoons are recommended for maximum health benefits but you should start small, as in 1 teaspoon or so at a time and build up the amounts taken over a couple of weeks or you may get the trots.
You can substitute coconut oil for butter on toast and cooking oil. You can also melt some oil in soup or a hot meal at the table. We use it for bread making instead of butter.”
Here are some potential uses
Oil cricket bat, or surf board
Eat by the teaspoonful (or tablespoon)
Use for oil pulling (oil swishing in the mouth)
Rub it on skin for dry skin (may cause flaking skin in some cases – persevere)
Rub on or place on internal body orifices – roof of mouth, for example
Use in making soap or skin care creams
If you would use another vegetable oil, you can use coconut oil.
