Saturated Fat Radio New Zealand asked Neil Smith for a comment. Did you hear it?
History versus Science. Hear the news report here. http://www.radionz.co.nz/audio/player/20154572
Neil says look at history! (Or perhaps the science is changing on that…)
Heart Foundation NZ reveal a report by Food Consultant Lawrence Eyers pictured above. They have been stating that Saturated Fat is bad, in the past. In one link I looked at, I noticed they have changed their tack slightly, (in the light of overwhelming evidence they are wrong).
Dr Eyers says, “not too much (saturated fat)…”
Heart Foundation NZ say, “Yes, there are research studies that have found no obvious link between saturated fats and heart disease. However, what we eat instead of saturated fats is really important. If we consider the studies that take this into account, we get a different story.”
I say, we could say the same thing. We’d go on to say, transfats damage your body, ask Dr Mary Enig, Dr Bruce Fife, Sally Fallon and so many more researchers, so don’t eat them, at all, if you can avoid it.
When people ask, “Why Coconut Oil?” I say, it is the leanest fat in the world.
But unfortunately, I didn’t mention that in the Radio New Zealand interview.
Radio New Zealand following up on April 2014 interest in overseas report
Today is not the first time Radio New Zealand have brought up the saturated fat war raging in New Zealand, and overseas. And we might also ask, is this a western world pardigm? Did other non-western cultures, or cultures that were previously not westernised ever agonise over the use of Coconut Oil and other fats? (Did the western world invent this evil peril?)
About my interview with Radio New Zealand
Here are some of the things I said in pre-recorded interview. You should try and listen to it on Radio New Zealand.
I said in the interview something like, if your doctor says no, and you want to follow your doctor’s advice, do so. I also explained we don’t deal in medical advice. We are not doctors.
I recommended that people look at www.CoconutResearchCeter.com and read, the Dr Mary Enig and Sally Fallon book, Eat Fat Lose Fat.
