Which Oil? Lessons (Version 2)
Some parts of the Coconut Oil market are becoming crowded with different grades of oil, described with confusingly similar terms. So if you are looking for everyday advice about which Coconut Oil you should be using, you’ve come to the right place. This series of lessons is version two of the “Which Oil Lessons” from the Coconut Oil Shop.
In version two of the “Which Oil Lessons” we take things right back to basics.
This is where coconut oil comes from
A mature coconut is cut off a tree, and the outer shell of the nut is broken away. The inner, brown husk is removed, and the white meat is take out. There are various things that can be done with that white meat, or coconut flesh. To make Virgin Coconut Oil, the white meat is treated by one of various methods to make white milk, and then oil is taken from the milk, and packed for bottling.
The reason we have so many types of coconut oil, and grades of oil is because of the ways in which the above process is done vary depending on quality sought, and technology used. Congratulations! Now you know more than some of the users who consume coconut oil every week!
Congratulations you’re on your way to greater understanding of coconuts

Yes it will. This particular link is designed for New Zealand readers. We’re also working on an international version of these FREE “Which Oil? Lessons” series as well. The content is basically the same. But we don’t make reference to the Coconut Oil Shop NZ only shopping aisles.
In addition, we’re rebuilding an international shop area, and it will be up and running before the end of 2014. There are already booklets and reports created by us which will also be useful for living outside of New Zealand.
