Hair Care with Pre-Shampoo Oil Treatment

We often get questions about uses for coconut oil

Hair care is a use for coconut oil.
I came across these two articles about natural hair care, written by a women by the writing name Heather R. She is writing for a national Sunday newspaper, The Standard, in Zimbabwe.

I can’t find the first article in this series. But here are two articles by Heather R, a Black lady in Zimbabwe.

Where is Zimbabwe?

Zimbabwe is just above South Africa, in the cone part of the African continent. Over the years it’s been called Southern Rhodesia, and Rhodesia as well. Coconuts grow along the coast line in the African continent, too.

Anyway, about hair care.
Members of the Smith family have used coconut oil for hair care over the years. There is no doubt it is worthwhile. We discovered the power of coconut oil, originally through Dr Mercola, and Dr Fife.

Have other non-Pacific Ocean cultures traditionally used coconut oil for their hair?

Kerala State of India, again, a southern area of a large continent, runs along the lower coastal area of the Indian continent. There Indians love to use coconut oil for hair care. But a lot of that oil is now RBD. That means it is not virgin, or first press, and it has been treated with high heat, and chemicals to get the most out of the coconut oil. We do not recommend the use of such oil, even for hair care.

Oil is messy! How do you clean oiled things like towels etc?

It is wise to wrap up hair being treated with coconut oil. But what about an oily towel? Who wants the job of fixing that? Well there is a product that does a wonderful job of it, and you can buy it at Countdown / Foodtown, Woolworths.co.nz. The product is Sodium Carbonate.

Sodium Carbonate loves oily things

Greenwoods (laundry crystals) are a 100% biodegradable product called “Soft and Safe Washing Soda Crystals”. They are made in New Zealand, and created with Sodium Carbonate in water. If you hair is not looking like it’s glorious potential, and you’re intending to have a shower, you might consider vigorously rubbing in some coconut oil. Any of our virgin coconut oil offerings will work fine for the job. Afterwards, add some Greenwoods granules to your wash, to remove the oil.

So in summary, let’s say, the Coconut Oil Shop Team wish you happy hair days!

The book, “The Coconut Oil Miracle”, by Dr Bruce Fife

Here is an excerpt from the book.
Coconut oil has been used throughout Asia and the Pacific for thousands of years as both a food and a medicine.

Even today it holds a highly respected position in the Ayurvedic medicine of India. Only recently has modern medical research confirmed the many health benefits traditionally attributed to this remarkable oil.

Once mistakenly thought to be bad because of its saturated fat content, coconut oil is now known to contain a unique form of saturated fat that actually helps prevent heart disease, stroke, and hardening of the arteries. The saturated fat in coconut oil is unlike the fat found in meat or other vegetable fats. It is identical to a special group of fats found in human breast milk which have been shown to improve digestion, strengthen the immune system, and protect against bacterial, viral, and fungal infections.

These fats, derived from coconut oil, are now routinely used in hospital IV formulations and commercial baby formulas. They’re also used in sports drinks to boost energy and enhance athletic performance.

Commercial Break:

Hi, have known about the benefits of coconut oil for some time now but cannot see why the medical community does not push for the introduction of oil use into the everyday lives of New Zealand people. With the vast amount of people affected by the multiple illnesses associated with diabetes, is the only light at the end of the tunnel, the entry to St. Peters place? Sorry to gripe on your forum. but thanks for your care and I wish you all success with the business.
